Winning Moves Cir*Kis Giveaway!

UPDATE: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED! Congratulations to Ginny for winning!

I can remember going back to school. The day would approach, ominous, as I lie trembling under the covers, waiting as each day turned into the day after, the calendar slipping by, until finally: the morning of going back to school.

Okay, so maybe I'm a bit melodramatic (hmmm...maybe a lot). But the point is, going back to school ain't no fun. I remember the sense of foreboding, like clouds rolling in from the west...(there I go again).

But all you parents...you know, you can help. Sit with your kids, talk to them. They may be thrilled going back to school! And, they may not. I can tell you, sometimes, I HATED that night before the first day back.

But, some of my fondest memories of my childhood, are of doing things with my parents. Bonding while shooting hoops, playing backyard cricket, and playing games. Oh, boy! We used to play Scrabble, Monopoly, Yahtzee, Trivial Pursuit...good times!

Games encourage creativity, imagination and promote healthy competition and a sense of fair play (I swear...I ACCIDENTALLY knocked the board! Just because I was losing...) And, bonding with your kids before they head back to school might help them adjust a little easier.

Cir*Kis is the new game from Winning Moves. The idea is to complete circles and stars on the game board, following the leader with your move. I love games like this! I'm such a big kid. Completing all those shapes, while trying to outwit the other people...loads of fun!

Cir*Kis is licenced by Hasbro and can be found at places like Wal-Mart, Target and K-Mart, as well as speciality stores like Toys R' Us and B&N. But Winning Moves, they're nice people.

Winning Moves are so nice, they're giving away a copy of Cir*Kis!

Simply leave a comment telling us what your parents used to do to bond with you! Did they play games with you? Take you fishing? To the library? To monster truck rallies? Let us know!
  • A winner will be randomly chosen, and the giveaway ends September 27, 2009.

My parents always played board games as a family. They called it "Family Game Time" and we learned to UNO, Operation, SkipBo, Dominoes, Scrabble, Battleship, etc. We carried on the tradition with our kids & have "Family Game Night" once a week and the kids live for that night of family bonding time.

I love my parents, I truly do, but they never really did much to try to bond with us. I do remember once in a blue moon being allowed to stay up and watch Johnny Carson with my mom and dad, but that was about it.

My parents did all of the above we were lucky! My Mom was big on board games every night after dinner and then each of us (3) got to pick our own books for her to read to use before bed. My Dad took the boys on Camping trips, and dragged me along for fishing, batting cages, etc.. every second outside of work was dedicated to us and I love all the memoires!!

I remember more of the memories of my father even though my mom did things with me. My mom and dad were divorced so the memories with my father are very important to me. He took me fishing, broadway shows, movies, arcades, the NYC to all types of events there. I also remember the times where we just sat and talked to me. He is a gentle soul and never ever was mean to me.

Mom would read to me every night before bed. Daddy would take me out in the yard or to the park, sometimes with the other neighborhood kids, and play sports with me! I was a bit of a tomboy!

My parents would take us to church any time the doors were open. We got called out by the preacher a few times when my sister and I were sitting with my parents - all my Mom's fault, LOL!

My parents liked to play UNO a lot and always included us... and my father used to drag us out fishing with him... hated the early mornings as a kids, way appreciate the memories now :)

Thanks for the run down memory lane and for the chance to win!

My mom raised 6 kids by herself. So there wasn't much one on one time, but when there was, we TREASURED it!! She always made our Dr's appointments on different days so she could spend time afterwards. She would take me out for ice cream or a coco and just talk. It was great. I always felt special.

My parents used to take us to the river and we would go crabbing. I have kids of my own now and once they're old enough, I'm going to continue that tradition with them. We also played a lot of board and card games. Our favorite is Uno! We'd play it at home, on camping trips, etc. It was a fun and easy game for the whole family.

Reading. First they read a lot to us. Then as we were older, we'd all sit in the same room and read our own books... Doesn't sound too social, but it was definitely bonding! (And my dad was a bookstore manager, so Sundays were bonding times when the whole family would go to the bookstore together and help out.)
