Usborne Books Giveaway - Closes 14 November!

UPDATE: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED! Winners: Candice, Chantelle, mummy2jj!

So, a while back we did an Usborne Books giveaway - three copies of Illustrated Classics for Boys.

But you know, Usborne, being the generous and wonderfully-committed-to-not-just-boys-literary-development people that they are, also have an Illustrated Classics for Girls.

Who knew!

Simply yet effectively illustrated, ICFG includes timeless tales such as the story of Heidi, Little Women and the Wizard of Oz.

This is a great way to bring the classics home, and in the process, teach your little one to love reading. Fight the electronic invasion while they're young and impressionable, that's what I say.

So......you want one of these, eh? Well, Usborne Children's Books Australia wants you to have one. In fact, they want three lucky winners to have one!

To enter, leave a comment and tell us your all-time favourite tale as a kid. Hansel and Gretel? Peter Pan? Snow White? What was your literary flavour?

Entries go into a random draw!

Here's the fine print:

  • Open to Australian residents only
  • Giveaway closes November 14th 2009

Crayon Rocks Giveaway - CLOSED!

UPDATE: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED! Congratulations to Anna for winning!

Crayon Rocks are not your normal crayons. They're all natural soy wax, made from American soybeans and coloured with natural mineral powders.

Deliberately rock-shaped (hence the name) to develop the muscles that will be used in later years for hand-writing, Crayon Rocks come in a variety of rich colours, bound to have your little one drawing unrecognisable stick figures of you with more vibrancy and tone than ever before!

Crayon Rocks come in different types of boxes and bags, with portability and storage in mind, and are guaranteed to get your little one in the mood for going back to school! (maybe.)

Crayon Rocks are giving one lucky winner the chance to win:
  • a Just Rocks Box
  • a Red Velvet Student Bag (with six colours); and
  • a Treasure Bag (eight colours)

To enter, take the name "CRAYON ROCKS" and make as many words from it as you can. For example, car, nor, sock. You can only use each letter once in the words you make!

The person with the most words wins!

When you're done, just leave a comment with your ID in it somewhere, and e-mail us your list of words!

Here's the fine print:

See Jane Work Giveaway - CLOSED!

UPDATE: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED! Congratulations to kalea_kane for winning! You're pretty disorganised. And, to Gina who wore slippers to a wedding...well, just, oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear.

I'm a mess. I admit it. I'm thoroughly disorganised. I'm the guy waltzing through the things he has forgotten, misplaced, or somehow contrived not to account for.

And what's weird is that I'm actually inclined to be organised, I like the idea of having everything where it should be (not in my head, where the limited amount of RAM constantly pushes the older stuff out to make way for newer stuff).

But it takes...so...much...effort to get yourself in some kind of order. Doesn't it?

Well, that's sort of where See Jane Work comes into the addled, confused picture. SJW has everything possible covered for schmoes like me to get their lives in some kind of discernible order and KEEP it that way, especially for those of us who work in an office.

Planners, chalkboards, agendas, habit formers (well I'll be....), file holders, letterboxes, binders...you name it, they got it. As well as standard office items like bulldog clips, staplers, etc. See Jane Work is intimidating in its range of organisational tools!

See Jane Work want you to be organised, and efficiently trendy in the office. So, win a prize pack which includes an out of office, a memo mouse pad and a set of fashion pencils in green!

To enter, just leave a comment telling us how disorganised you are. The person who we judge to be the most disorganised wins! I (Mr Couch) have left a comment as an example...

Here's the fine print:

Clear Safety Bags giveaway - CLOSED!

UPDATE: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED! Congratulations to Anna for winning!

Clear Safety Bags, are makers of high-quality bags, composed of - you guessed it! - clear materials.

For the security conscious among us, CSB's diverse range of bags, backpacks, totes and purses has got you covered. Or shall we say, got your stuff covered.

Consider any place where a bag check might be performed - airports obviously, schools, maybe sporting events or theme parks - wouldn't it be great to have something which just says "let me through! I'm safe!" You know it would.

And you know, I kinda like some of these designs. I mean, you could kit your kid out in Pokemon or Ben10 (isn't that what kids are into these days? Or is it still Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?) but a clear backpack is kinda cool-looking, in a non-conformist sort of way.

So - win one! CSB are giving you your choice of either the Wisdom or Knowledge backpacks, in your choice of colour.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment telling us in what way your life has changed with regards to security. Whatever it is, something big, something little - how has your life been impacted by the security issue? A winner will be drawn randomly.

Here's the fine print:

  • Giveaway open to US residents only
  • Giveaway closes October 19th 2009
  • To find out how to earn extra entries clear here!

Usborne Books giveaway! - CLOSED!

UPDATE: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED! Congratulations to Candice, mummy2jj and SquiggleMum for winning!

About a month back, we did a giveaway post focusing on what your parents did to bond with you, and 106 comments later it was clear that most of you had parents that loved to bond with you, and did lots of fun stuff with you as children. It was really touching.

I (Mr Couch) personally think one of the best things you can do with your kids is read with them. Not only is there a profound impact on your child's intellectual development, there are huge bonding issues that are fulfilled when you take 20 minutes out of a busy day to enjoy the written word with your children.

And, there ain't no better way to do it than with a book like this: Usborne Books Illustrated Classics for Boys. With six classic stories for boys (aimed at six years old and up), like Robin Hood, Gulliver and Robinson Crusoe, and with beautiful illustrations that are just bound to enthrall your little ones, this will be a perfect way to spend some quality time with your kids AND enhance their literary skills!

Usborne Children's Books Australia is giving three lucky winners the chance to win one of these gems!

Just leave a comment telling us your favourite book as a child! Doesn't have to be one your parents read to you, just something that appealed to you when you were young. For me it was the Famous Five. But that's probably because I'm daggy. Maybe.

Entries go into a random draw!
