Our blog looks funny.......

This was me when I woke up this morning and checked our blog ----->

Yes, I wax my hair, 50's style.

It seems our blog has grown and grown and grown and grown and...well, grown some more. And our Photobucket account doesn't like that. PB gives us 10gb monthly of free bandwidth, and it seems we have gone past that limit. And thus, our blog has blown up.

So, until the 20th, you're going to see all those Photobucket things everywhere we're hosting on their site. It resets on the 20th, at which point I'll be able to see what I need to change (even I can't see my own images).

Now, if anyone wants to, you know, help us out here to stop our blog looking ridiculous for the next four days, then *cough* 24.95 *cough* that would be awesome. As always we're available here.

Thanks for your patience...and remember kids, when it comes to waxing your hair...just say no.

A big thank you and an update

Today, we hit 200 followers. A massive thank you to everyone! To everyone who stopped by, wondering what a Brown Couch had to do with an event, and what was an online event anyway? To everyone who entered one of our giveaways, or read a review, or clicked an ad. Boy, we just love you guys. I'm getting emotional about it all.

We're convinced that this online event thing has potential, and we plan on riding that potential like a colt that needs to be broken in. And we want you to come along for the ride. Win prizes, interact with people, win more prizes, play the games we put up. We're thrilled to have you and we hope you'll stop by.

Now, we need to update you all on the Chaotic Kristy Baby Shower: you probably haven't seen too many posts to do with the baby shower, aside perhaps from our awesome Radio Flyer giveaway and a couple others. And, there's a good reason for that...and when someone finds out what it is could they please let us know? No, I'm just kidding.

The thing is, because we had to extend the Back to School Thingy (it proved to be more popular than we thought) everything else, meaning the baby shower, got backed up. So, YES the Chaotic Kristy Baby Shower is still on - but it's being extended. We'll let you know when the new end date is.

And lastly, we are overhauling the site. We're trashing this design and going with something better - something slick and purposeful and functional. If you have any ideas for the site - anything you hate that you wish were there/not there, anything you can think of to make this a more enjoyable experience for you, then leave a comment or, e-mail us.

Because after all, this is your site too.

A quick word about the links above...

With the Back to School Thingy not only in full swing, but also extended, we've gained some valuable experience from running this whole blog thing.

One thing we have discovered is that it's a crud load of work quite difficult to maintain the landing page the way we have been doing it for the Back to School Thingy.

In fact, while I (Mr Couch) initially thought the idea of the landing page was pretty cool, it in fact doubled our workload.

So instead of maintaining a landing page for the Chaotic Kristy Baby Shower, we've stuck those links up there, giving you all quick and easy access to the stuff happening in the baby shower. We hope this is easy for you guys (one fewer click) and helps you enjoy the event a whole lot more!

Please be aware though, the "win stuff" "reviews" and "discount" links direct to the main page, since the event hassn't begun yet!

The Back to School Thingy is finally here!

You know you're excited. Just a little bit.

It's finally here - the Back to School Thingy! Yes, for two months we've been creating ads, and writing posts to generate hype about this thing, and here it is.

Celebrate the kids going back to school by playing games, reading about other peoples' back to school experiences, and generally relaxing while they're chained to a desk in a musty classroom somewhere! The poor things.

Let's get some stuff out of the way first:

The numbers are still increasing but there are about 50 businesses contributing products of all sorts to this event. There'll be something north of ninety prizes to be won! A big, exciting thank you to all our sponsors.

We're so thankful to our sponsors, we're sending this guy to give them all a hug.

A brief clarification on our e3 policy: there's been some confusion about where to leave extra comments. Please don't leave them on the e3 page...we need them to be left on the post of the giveaway you're entering. Thanks!

This Twitter thing

Well, our Twitter Page is finally done. More than the lonely empty shell it used to be, without mirth or flavour, it now sparkles with the fresh-faced anticipation of a little kid on his first trip to the zoo.

The Launch...and a bit about us

Hello, and welcome to brown couch events!

This is probably your first time visiting this page...so let us introduce you to what we do.

We are a husband and wife team, who in the jetsream of the brilliant Mommie Daze Virtual Baby Shower, decided to set up a blog dedicated to online events. Everyone celebrates events in their lives, from the significant (birthdays, weddings, housewarmings) to the mundane (getting audited)...what we're here for is to help you celebrate them! We bring people together, in a warm and fuzzy non-corporate way, so that you can participate in World Coffee Day meaningfully and socially, without leaving the comfort of your wifi. (Does anyone know if there is such a thing as World Coffee Day? There should be.) So, if throwing an event party sounds good to you, check out our event packages, introductorily-priced!

We also want to issue a shout also to all those in business, looking for an innovative and organic way of reaching your target. Sponsors are always welcome to contact us, either to provide products for an upcoming event (check our front page regularly to see what's coming) or to schedule a new event. Alternatively, if you are looking for a dynamic site on which to place your logo/button, we are growing and offer competitive advertising packages. We work well with those in business, because we know what's important to you. We're efficient, polite and we always respond promptly to e-mails.

Schedule an Event

We try to make scheduling an event as simple and as flexible as possible. Our packages are designed to suit your type of event, whether it's single product promotion or a complex, month-long themed campaign*.

We ask that you contact us with as much notice as possible; please note the time frames below for each package. But, feel free to contact us even if your event is on short notice, and we'll do everything we can to accommodate!

Please be assured that we are happy to consult and work with you toward your goals before and during the event. We'll keep in touch constantly to make sure you're satisfied with the graphic design, sponsor liaison (if applicable) and that your event is on the right track generally.

The BCE Yellow Package Includes:

• an event lasting up to one week
  
• a custom-designed banner (470x125px)
  
• a 200x200px ad button
• a landing page dedicated to your event (see an example here!)

Please note, your ad button and banner will remain on the BCE page for the duration of the event.

Notice Required: Four - Six Weeks







The BCE Green Package Includes:

• an event lasting up to two weeks
• a custom-designed banner (470x125px)
  
• two 200x200px teaser buttons to generate interest in your event
• a 200x200px ad button
• a landing page dedicated to your event (see an example here!)

Please note, your teaser buttons will be placed on the BCE home page prior to the event, and the ad button and banner will remain on the BCE page for the duration of the event.
